Tunisian Spinach Rice (Djerba Rice)

This is a quick and easy recipe of Djerbian rice. It is somewhat similar in its ingredients to the famous Spanish PAELLA. This is my take on it:



1. In a bowl add:

1/2 cup of rice

5 cups of chopped parsley

1 cup of green peas

200 grams chopped chicken (I used chicken breast)

200 grams shrimp (cleaned)

200 squid (cut)

1 tbsp of tomato paste

1/2 tbsp of harissa (Tunisian hot chili paste, can be replaced with paprika)

2 tsp of turmeric

1 tsp of garlic paste

1 tsp of garlic powder

1 tsp of onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Mix everything together then put it in a steamer and steam covered for about 30 - 45 mins until the rice is cooked. Make sure you gently mix the rice while steaming to ensure even cooking. Serve it warm and Enjoy!
